My design process revolves around my experiences in ethics, counseling, and theology. Each of these disciplines demonstrates my commitment to active listening, deep empathy, and holistic thinking.
I emphasize the up-front work of generating empathy and gaining understanding in order to tackle the heart of the problem. This places the human elements of design in the center of my focus.

This project illustrates the value of user research when creating design solutions. By more deeply understanding how students approach and organize the paper-writing process, I was able to create a better organized paper editor for PERRLA's online platform.
After 20 years, PERRLA's core product can't be updated any further. We rebuilt it using Microsoft new Office Add-In platform. This project demonstrates my general design process in practice from research to implementation.
PERRLA's existing Contact Support page cause problems for users and our Support staff. I updated our form by streamlining the content and meeting form heuristics. These changes made the form easier for users and provided better information to our Support team – allowing them to solve user’s problems faster.
I researched, designed, and developed a new website for a traditional church. Their existing WordPress site no longer met their needs or modern browser standards. I worked with them on updating their content before building a new site in Webflow.
If you have questions, ideas, or just want to talk about how I integrate my experience with design, let me know! As an outgoing person who works from home, I'm always looking for a reason to get coffee or lunch.
I'm currently living in Asheville, NC & am happy to talk.
